The Ken-Yatta label out of Greensboro, North Carolina was named after the eldest son of label owner Rev. C.M. Carrington. Sister Mary Thigpen recorded the only album (as far as Ik now) released on the label. "Let Us Pray" (Ken-Yatta LP 15076) is from the early eighties. Mary Thigpen is from Randleman, North Carolina. So far the only recordings I've found by Mary Thigpen are those made for Ken-Yatta. The musicians on this album are Ken-Yatta Carrington (Hammond, Fender-Rhodes), James R. Carrington (drums, piano), William Martin (bass and lead guitar).
'Because He Lives' is a very good country-soul/gospel song and is an excellent vehicle for Mary Thigpen to show her vocal qualities.
