Blind Boys of Mississippi - Time Is Winding Up

Blind Boys Of Mississippi - Time Is Winding Up

Earlier on this week I've posted an entry about the Blind Boys of Alabama. They weren't the only set of Blind Boys who soldiered on well into the seventies. The Blind Boys of Mississippi also made records well into the seventies. They made 3 albums for Jewel in the late seventies. Before they joined Jewel they made at least one record for BeeCee records out of California. The same BeeCee records for which the Ladies Of Song recorded around the same time. 'Time Is Winding Up' comes from the 1976 album "Another Direction" (BeeCee LP 1074). And it really is another direction, because the Blind Boys of Mississippi like so many other gospel groups in the seventies changed their lyrical content (partially) from straight gospel into social commentary.
At the time of recording membership of the Missippi Blind Boys was as follows: Jimmy Carter, J.T. Clinkscales, Lewis Dicks, Joe Watson and Sandy Foster (lead on 'Time Is Winding Up').
