Eloise Polk - I'm Running All The Way

Eloise Polk - I'm Willing To Run All The Way

During the seventies and eighties Memphis was not only the capitol of Southern Soul with Stax and Hi, several independent gospel labels issued solid gospel 45s. But as with so many independents due to lack of nationwide distribution most artists remained local heroes. Prophecy was such a Memphis gospel independent in the early seventies with a hand full of 45s released. Several of these 45s were recorded at leading Memphis studios like American Sound.
Eloise Polk's "I'm Running All The Way" was recorded at American Sound, although the song doesn't have a particular sound. It's a beautiful but almost a-capella ballad with minimal piano support. I haven't found any other recordings by Eloise Polk than this 45 on Prophecy.

    Cies-
If you notice, the address given on the label for the Orophecy label is '827 Thomas Street', which, of course, was also the address of American Sound...hmmm.

    Red,

I didn't know what the adress was for American Sound. This makes it really interesting. Was Prophecy a label owned by American Sound. But who is William E. (Billy) Glore the name of the producer on most Prophecy releases?
On some of the other Prophecy 45s the adress is 625 Chelsea Memphis. Perhaps the adress of an other recording studio?
