Rev. Oris Mays - Companions In Sorrow
Rev. Oris Mays - Companions In Sorrow
In a previous post on Rev. Oris Mays I was a bit complaining about the not so good musical arrangments. Not this time. "Companions In Sorrow" is an excellent piece of preaching-deep soul-gospel singing accompanied with some excellent organ, piano, drums and guitar support. And let's not forget the unknown lady whailing in the background. More than six minutes of some of the best gospel music I've put on this blog so far.
"Companions In Sorrow" is taken from the 1974 album "A Gospel Star At His Best"(Jewel LP 0099). In the introduction of "Companions In Sorrow" Oris Mays tells/sings about a mother who has recently visited him after her two sons died in the same week in Vietnam. The songs ends with Amazing Grace.
