Gene Viale - Peace In The Valley

Gene Viale - Peace In The Valley

Viale started his professional gospel career when he joined the James Cleveland Singers in 1964. By doing this the James Cleveland Singers became one of the first racially integrated (gospel) groups at that time, as Gene Viale has European-Puerto Rican Parents.
In 1965 he had to join the army. After his return to 'normal' life he recorded and toured with several of the James Cleveland related groups and choirs.
Viale recorded his first solo album in 1968 for Checker. "What Color Is God? (Checker LP 10054). Changes in management at Checker had as a result that there never was a second Checker album. Some songs of what should have been his second Checker album can be found at
The Early Years.
"Peace In The Valley" is taken from his only Checker album "What Color Is God?".
