The Voices-Supreme - Free At Last

The Voices-Supreme - Free At Last

Today we have a 'soft' singing 'seventies' quartet; The Voices-Supreme. No 'hard' singing, testifying, screaming, but sweet harmony singing that's a lot closer to the popular sweet soul of the mid-seventies than anything else you've heard so far on this blog.
The Voices-Supreme recorded 4 albums for Glori, one for Savoy and one for Nashboro. The Nashboro allbum "New Direction" (Nashboro LP 7240) is believed to be a compilation of their Glori albums. "Free At Last" is taken from their second Glori album "We Can Make It Together" (Glori LP 1025) from 1974.
The Voices-Supreme were formed in 1968 and made their breakthrough in 1971 at the James Cleveland Gospel Workshop in Dallas where they won the aword for Best Male Gospel Group. In 1972 and 1973 they took home the same award. In 1973 they made their record debut on Glori.
Members of the Voices-Supreme are: Robert Fryson (director/leader), Marvin Garmon (vocals), Anthony Christian (vocals), Henry Davis (piano).

I love this group. I was born back in the early 60's and we use to sing most of their songs. We need to bring them back so that the world can hear how real good gospel should sound.
