Gospel Keynotes - I Feel The Fire Burning
Gospel Keynotes - I Feel The Fire Burning (live)

Today is the last entry in our series of live gospel recordings we had in the last couple of weeks. A big Thank You to John Glassburner for providing most of the songs. And what a song to finish with!!!!
In 1975 Nashboro organised a series of concerts at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, featuring a who's who of Nashboro artists. In 1976/7 Nashboro released two double live albums titles "Live In Concert With" (Nashboro 27170 & 27179) containing the best of the concerts.
Willie Neal Johnson, Paul Beas, Alfred Smith, Larry McGowin, Val Alexander, and Donnie Timmons are giving everything on "I Feel The Fire Burning". Actually, they are giving more than everything.
I've had good fortune of seeing Willie Neal and those fabulous Keynotes "live" many times. They were "my" group. IMO, no "seventies" quartet could out sing them - Mighty Clouds and Violinaires included (and I've seen those groups dozens of times as well!)
When the Keynotes were out there, nobody was safe, and a housewreckin' was a very high probability. No group in the business wanted to follow them on stage - there was usually not much left of the place after they were done!
Willie Neal Johnson was not the greatest pure singer, but he was 100% heart and soul, and could connect with the people like no other. A truly great leader and an absolutely wonderful man. God rest his soul!
