Amazing Farmer Singers - If Anyone Can

Amazing Farmer Singers - If Anyone Can

It has been a while since our last visit to the HLF label. And with previous blog entries being about family groups I decided to continue with this theme. Time to re-visit the Amazing Farmer Singers (reactivated the link). Hayes Farmer was born in Memphis in 1934. He and his wife Lorice both grew up singing in church. Hayes Farmer sung for some time with the Jubilee Hummingbirds and the Stars of Harmony. In 1962 they moved to Chicago where they formed their own gospel group in 1974. Mr. and Mrs Farmer together with their daughters Linda, Joyce and Vanita were the singers. Hayes Jr. played the bass, Vincent and Kelly drums and percussion. The Amazing Farmer Singers recorded one album and six 45's for their own HLF label. As Brother Hayes & the Farmer Singers they made 2 45's for Cuca.
"If Anyone Can" is taken from their album "My Father's House" (HLF LP 82226). Looking at the catolougue number and listening to the album, it's safe to assume that it was recorded in 1982.  Lead singer is Vanita Farmer.
