Sis Lucille Pope & Pearly Gates - All Over This World

Red Kelly, better known as the Soul Detective is a man with a mission. Sis. Lucille Pope is been called 'the best kept secret in Gospel Music'. Red Kelly wants to change that. And with Sis. Lucille Pope and two of the Pearly Gates being her brothers it's another family gospel group. Lucille Pope & the Pearly Gates, now with one of her grand-sons as member of the Pearly Gates are still performing from time to time.
Red has written two excellent pieces about Sis Lucille Pope at his Holy Ghost blog. So no reason for me to write about her career when Red has done it already a lot better than I will be able to do. Just read what Red has written.
And Red is right. Lucille Pope is certainly one of those artists who deserves a wider audience. She has a unique voice and style of singing. On the one hand it's smooth as silk, but there's always this raw power behind all the smoothness. "All Over This World" is from the album "Holding On" (Nashboro LP 7167) and released in 1976. And keeping it in the spirit of our Family Series, the song is a story about a mother singing a song for her son.
