Traveling Echoes - I'm Going To See Jesus

The Traveling Echoes are yet another Gospel Family Group deserving wider recognition. The Traveling Echoes were organised in 1952 when Laura and James Ridley decided to leave their seperate groups and begin their own group so they would see each other more often. The group was composed of Laura and James Ridley, their daughter Bettye Joe and foster son Clayton McDonald. They made their recording debut on Nashboro 582 in 1956. In 1965 they were signed by Jewel. Around the time of the signing with Jewel Clayton McDonald joined the US Army. They recorded four albums for Jewel between 1966 and 1970. "I'm Going To See Jesus" is taking from their last album "In Memory of Laura" (Jewel LP 0035). Laura Ridley died between the recording of and the actual release of the album.
