Sensational White Family Singers - Back Road Into Town
Sensational White Family Singers - Back Road Into Town

The Sensational White Family Singers of Savannah, Georgia recorded for Pitch and its subsidiary Gusman. The White family was the first group recorded by Pitch/Gusman owner Waymon Jones. A few days ago I uploaded the Pitch/Gusman discography and label history written by Alan Young and John Glassburner.
The Sensational White Family Singers should not be confused with the Fabulous White Singes we featured a couple of days ago. Minister James White, his wife Sarah and their two children Katleen and Lester White recorde three 45s for Pitch/Gusman and one album. The O.B. McClinton written song "Back Road Into Town" was also recorded by soul singer Willie Hightower. The song was released as Pitch 175 and was also on their album "Help Me Jesus" (Pitch LP 1007). The album was released in 1978.
