Seven Stars - Lord, Let Me Come Home

Seven Stars - Lord, Let Me Come Home

A couple of weeks ago we had an entry about The Seven Stars of Jackson, MS. The question I asked were: are the Seven Stars on J&B the same as the Seven Stars on Su-Ann? Within days I got reactions from regular contributors John Glassburner and Kevin Nutt. John confimred that the groups on J&B and Su-Ann were one and the same Seven Stars. Kevin came up with a recording by the Seven Stars on the Jackson, MS based label Delta. Today we look at the Su-Ann album "When My Jesus Comes" (Su-Ann LP 1767). According to the information on the back cover, Lee Thorn Payton and Johnnie Fleming started the group thirty-four years ago. Through the years they had many changes, but Lee Thorn Payton always kept the Seven Stars alive. At the time of recording their Su-Ann album membership was as follows: Lee Thorn Payton (manager), Robert Milton (first tenor), Leroy Armstrong (second tenor), Rowan Thompson (baritone), James Holiday (tenor), James Flowers (bass), Joe N. Rule (lead guitar), Tyrone Armstrong (bass guitar), George Jones Jr. (first tenor), and Victor Mason (drums).
