Burden Lifters - Bless The People Everywhere

Burden Lifters - Bless The People Everywhere

The (Sensational) Burden Lifters made their record around 1967 for BARC. Around 1972 they recorded today's selection for Big Chance. "Blesse The People Everywhere" and it's flip "Farewell Goodbye" were also released on Williams 329 and Harlem Sounds 202. As with so many groups, in the late seventies the lead singer got a more prominent place, so from that time on they recorded as Willis Pittman & the Burden Lifters for AIR, Melendo, and CRP.

This is one of my favorite groups, and what a GREAT name for a gospel group, The Burden Lifters!! Willis Pittman is a wonderful leader (and a fantastic song writer) while brother Norris is second lead. IMO, Norris would make an amazing SOUL singer. You have to hear Norris sing "It's You I Owe" live in concert. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it! Anybody have their HSE album out there??? I've been looking for that thing forever!!!

    Howard,

I don't have their HSE album. Actually I didn't even know they ever recorded for HSE or any other Hoyt Sullivan related company. Their only album I have is "Thunder".
You're absolutely right Norris Pittman, like so many great gospel singers, would have been an outstanding soul singer.
