The other day Preston Lauterbach published a piece about the recently placing of a marker at James Carr's grave at his excellent site Backroads of American Music.  After mentioning this at the Southern Soul List all reactions where in favour of doing the same for the great soul and gospel singer O.V. Wright. Within days Red Kelly, Preston Lauterbach and Ricky Stevens got permission from O.V. Wright's widow, Alberta, and the O.V. Wright Memorial Fund was formed.

O.V. Wright made his first recordings while being a member of the Sunset Travelers back in the late 1950s. On "Glory Is Coming" O.V. Wright is singing lead. This song was released as Peacock 1888.
