Billy Bowers - Jesus Will Listen To You

Billy Bowers - Jesus Will Listen To You

Billy Bowers was for a short period member of the Five Blind Boys of Alabama.   He joined the Blind Boys sometime in 1967/68 as a replacement for Clarence Fountain who had left the Blind Boys after the recordings of their album "Tell Jesus" (HOB LP 284). Bowers had left the group already by the time they recorded their next album "Too Sweet To Be Saved" (HOB LP 295) in 1969. According to The Gospel Discography 1943-1970 Billy Bowers sings lead on one tune; "Bye and bye" (HOB 184) which was only released as 45 and on a Various Artists compilation. Like Clarence Fountain, Billy Bowers rejoined the Five Blind Boys of Alabama and is in the current line-up.
The Rosemont label was one of the few New Orleans based labels releasing gospel in the 1970s. Today's 45 is the only solo release by Billy Bowers as far as we know.
