The other day I received an email from Shonda English, daughter of Rev. Bill English who was a member of The Gospel Encores. The Gospel Encores was a duo, the other member being Rev. Joseph Smith. In 1972 they formed The Gospel Encores in Boston, Mass. In 1975 HOB released their only album "Oh Blessed Star" (HOB LP 2179). The album, as so many on HOB was produced by John Bowden. Shonda and her father are wondering what happened with John Bowden after HOB closed doors. Does anyone knows more about John Bowden?
After his period in the Gospel Encores Rev. Bill English moved from Boston back to his home town Sumter, SC. and began his own ministry and church. He also began his own record comapany BEEA Records.
Shonda English has followed in her father's footsteps and has just released her first solo gospel CD. You can find more on her at her MySpace page.

I am making sure that I achieve certain heights while my parents are both alive. My father and Bishop Smith made a HUGE impact on my life at an early age. I can remember going to their jam sessions at the age of 3 and being mesmerized by their pianist, West. I am not the Minister of Music at my father's church, playing the organ twice on Sunday and every Wednesday night. My gospel carrer is getting ready to FLY!!!! Watch out for the name, you will hear it again.
