Dorothy Love Coates - Strange Man
Dorothy Love Coates - Strange Man

Dorothy Love Coates is no stranger to this blog. Actually she is one of our favourite female (gospel) vocalists. "Strange Man" shows again why she's in the top of our list. She recorded only one 45 for the Richburg label, her brother Fred McGriff owned. Dorothy Love Coates recorded "Strange Man" for Savoy as well. Both versions are different. The 45 is most likely released in the late sixties or early seventies.
thank you for the wonderful music. it has made my life better.

Dorothy Love Coates was the Aretha Franklin of gospel. I love her! Thanks so much, Cies, for this recording of her I had not heard.

John, I totally agree with you. IF Dorothy Love Coates had crossed over she would have become one of the, if not THE female superstar in Soul music.

OOO I got one hand on my keyboard and the other hand raised to Jesus! Thank ya!
I listen to "Dot" and I wonder how in the world could her pastor ever get to preach with all the people screaming and catching the Holy Ghost from her singing?! Lawdy, they would have had to put me in straight jacket!
Thanks Cies
