Seattle Songbirds - No Cross No Crown

Seattle Songbirds - No Cross No Crown

After yesterday's trip into the Seatlle gospel scene with the Singing Galatians, today we will listen to The Seattle Songbirds. At the time of cutting their only album sometime in the late eighties/early nineties the group existed for more than ten years. The group membership at the time of the recording is: Lee Garrett (first tenor), Freddie Gray (second tenor), Elbert James (lead), Lenon Kelly (baritone), Stalin Harrison (lead guitar), Lonnie Mosley (drums), Sonny Byers (keyboard & bass guitar). Their album "The Day Of Reckoning" was released on a label named Geneva Records, although it looks more as a private release. Geneva is the first name of the of the 'mother of the Seattle Songbirds'. The album was recorded at David Lang Studios, Tacoma, Washington.
